How can we allow extension dialing when reaching a voicemail?

Description

  • Our company would like to allow callers to dial an extension or option when reaching a voicemail.

Resolution

  1. Login as an admin user into the PISTON web management interface.
  2. Under VoIP Services, select Callflows.  
  3. On the left column list, locate the callflow that contains the voicemail box in question.
  4. Open the voicemail box, click Edit Voicemail Box, Advanced then Extension dialing
  5. Ensure 'Allow caller to dial extensions'.
  6. If you would like to whitelist only specific extensions or external phone numbers, then please input them in the 'Whitelist of numbers'. 
  7. Else leave it blank to allow all.
  8. If you would like to block only specific extensions or external phone numbers, then please input them in the 'Blacklist of numbers'.
  9. Click Save.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Click Save.
  12. Do a test call to ensure all is working accordingly.
  13. You may want to also have a callflow with extension '0' to ring some reception group (operator) internally.
