My Outgoing Caller ID isn't showing up properly

Description:

When I make outgoing calls from my phone, my caller ID is not showing up correctly to the people I'm calling.

Resolution:

Case: My phone is connected to Voxter

  1. Outgoing Caller ID is set in preferential order, in three places:
    • the Account
    • the User
    • the Device
  2. They take precedence in reverse order.
  3. The device trumps the user, the user trumps the account, and the account is considered the 'default' account-wide setting.
  4. Logon to your Voxter user portal using a web browser by going to http://manage.voxter.com
  5. Check to ensure your Account has its outgoing Caller ID set properly:
    1. Hover the mouse over 'Hosted PBX' then click Account Details.
    2. Verify there is a 'Caller ID' Name for In-House, Outbound and Emergency.
    3. If not, set the fields including the 'Caller ID Number'.
    4. Click Save.
  6. Set your 'User-level Outgoing Caller ID' (CID) by editing the relevant User:
    1. Hover the mouse over 'Hosted PBX' then 'Advanced'.
    2. Click Users.
    3. On the left side, click your user.
    4. Click Advanced.
    5. Click the tab named Caller ID.
    6. Verify there is a 'Caller ID' Name for In-House, Outbound and Emergency.
    7. If not, set the fields including the 'Caller ID Number'.
  7. Set your device-specific 'Caller ID' override values by editing the specific device:
    1. Hover the mouse over 'Hosted PBX' and 'Advanced'.
    2. Select Devices.
    3. Locate and select your device on the left side.
    4. Clcik Advanced on the upper right.
    5. Click Caller ID.
    6. Set the 'Caller ID Name' for In-house, Outbound and Emergency.
    7. Similarly set the 'Caller ID Number'.
    8. Click Save.

Case: My phone is connected to a PBX then connects to Voxter

  1. The PBX is registered in PISTON as a Device:
    • As of the PISTON update for May 2015, the caller ID from the phone will be ignored.  PISTON will use the caller ID of the device, the user or the account in PISTON only.
  2. The PBX is registered in PISTON as a PBX Connector:
    1. Verify the outbound caller ID is properly set within the PBX admin interface for each phone.
