How do I restart (reboot) my phone?

Description

  • I need to restart my phone.
  • How do I reboot my phone?

 

Resolution

Case A: My phone is wired

  1. If there is a power cable attached to the phone:
    1. Disconnect the power cable from the phone.
    2. Verify the phone is not powered (no lights, no LCD display, etc).
    3. If there is still light or the LCD screen is active, then disconnect the remaining cables attached to it while paying attention to where they are plugged in.
    4. Wait 30 seconds.
    5. Connect the power cable to the phone and any other cables that were disconnected as they were before.
    6. Stop here.
  2. If there is no power cable attached to the phone:
    1. Disconnect the cables from the phone while paying attention to where they are plugged in.
    2. Wait 30 seconds.
    3. Reconnect the cables to the phone as they were before.

Case B: My phone is wirelessly connected to a base station

  1. If there is a power cable attached to the base station:
    1. Disconnect the power cable from the base station.
    2. Verify the base station is not powered (no lights, no LCD labels, etc).
    3. If there is still light or the LCD screen is active, then disconnect the remaining cables attached to it. (note where these cables go, as you will need to replace them correctly)
    4. On the handset, remove the battery.
    5. Wait 30 seconds.
    6. Connect the power cable to the base station and any other cables that were disconnected to the base station as they were before.
    7. Wait 30 seconds.
    8. On the handset, reinsert the battery.
    9. Stop here.
  2. If there is no power cable attached to the base station:
    1. Disconnect cables from the base station. (note where these cables go, as you will need to replace them correctly)
    2. On the handset, remove the battery.
    3. Wait 30 seconds.
    4. Reconnect the cables to the base station as they were before.
    5. Wait 30 seconds.
    6. On the handset, reinsert the battery.
