How do I reset and setup (provision) my new or existing AASTRA (Mitel) phone to my account with voxter?

 

Resolution

Step 1: Resetting to factory default

Option 1: I have physical access to the phone

  1. Press the wrench icon button  (sometimes labeled ‘option’).
  2. My display is in black and white:
    1. Scroll down to ‘Admin Menu’ and press Select.
  3. My display is in color:
    1. Press Advanced.
    2. Scroll to the right and select Provisioning Server.
  4. Enter the password; the default password is ‘22222’.
  5. Press Enter.
  6. Scroll down (by using the down arrow button) to ‘Erase Local Config’.
  7. Press Select.
  8. Press Yes to confirm.
  9. Wait for the phone to reboot.
  10. Press the wrench icon button (sometimes labeled ‘option’).
  11. Scroll down to ‘Admin Menu’ and press Select.
  12. Enter the password; the default password is ‘22222’.
  13. Press Enter.
  14. Scroll down to ‘Factory Default’ and press Select.
  15. Select YES and then wait for the phone to reboot.
  16. Go to Step 2.

 

Option 2: I am in the office but no access to the phone yet I have someone else physically at the phone

  1. Verify that the phone is connected to a public network.
  2. Have someone physically access the phone to do these steps:
    1. Press the wrench icon button.
    2. Scroll down to 'Phone Status' and press Select.
    3. Scroll down to 'IP&MAC addresses' and press Select.
    4. Have the person relay to you the IP address of the phone as indicated on the phone screen.
      • It should be in the form of 255.255.255.255 
    5. Take note of the IP address for this particular phone.
  3. Open a web browser window and follow these steps:
    1. Input the IP address into the URL (address bar) of your browser and go to the address.
    2. When prompted, login using 'admin' as login/name and '22222' as password.
    3. A page will appear.
    4. On the left side, under 'Operation', click Reset.
    5. On the right side, next to 'Remove Local Configuration Settings', click Remove.
    6. Click OK if prompted to confirm the removal.
    7. On the left side, under 'Operation', click Reset.
    8. On the right side, next to 'Restart Phone', click Restart.
    9. Click OK if prompted to confirm the removal.
    10. Wait for the phone to complete its restart.
      • This may take up to 5 mins.
    11. On the left side, under 'Operation', click Reset.
    12. You may be prompted to login again.  Use the same login as above.
    13. On the left side, under 'Operation', click Reset.
    14. On the right side, next to 'Restore To Factory Defaults', click Restore.
    15. Click OK if prompted to confirm the restore.
    16. You may be advised to restart the phone for the restore change to take full effect.
    17. On the left side, under 'Operation', click Reset.
    18. On the right side, next to 'Restart Phone', click Restart.
    19. Click OK if prompted to confirm the restore.
    20. Wait for the phone to complete its restart.
    21. Close the web browser and go to Step 2.

Step 2: Setting up the phone to fetch the provisioning data from Voxter Communications

  1. If you skipped Step 1 and the phone was previously provisioned, then verify the phone is logged out.
    1. To verify, it should be asking you to input the extension and password.
    2. If not logged out, press More.
    3. Then press Logout.
  2. Open a web browser window.
  3. Input the IP address into the URL (address bar) of your browser.
  4. When prompted, login with 'admin' as login and '22222' as password.
  5. Once logged in, on the left side, under 'Advanced Settings', click Configuration Server.
  6. On the right side, next to 'Download Protocol', select HTTP from the drop down menu.
  7. Next to 'HTTP Server', input the provisioning server URL provided to you by Voxter.  
    • It should resemble something like "provision.YOURACCOUNT.sip.voxter.com"
  8. Next to 'HTTP Path', input 'provision'.
  9. Press the Save Settings button on the bottom of the page.
  10. After the settings are saved, click Reset on the left side under 'Operation'.
  11. Click Restart next to 'Restart Phone' on the right side.
  12. Click OK if prompted to confirm the restart.
  13. Wait for the restart to complete.
  14. The AASTRA phone should be prompting to input the extension and password.
  15. This indicates the phone is provisioned with the Voxter network.
  16. Input your extension and phone password.
  17. Use the phone as any regular phone from now on.
