How do I logout of my Polycom, Cisco, Snom, etc phone like I do for my Mitel/AASTRA phone?

Description

  • We use primarily AASTRA (Mitel) phones and have a few Polycom, Cisco or Snom phones.  
  • How do I logout of these non-Mitel phones so that it can be tied to another extension?

 

Resolution

  1. Only Mitel (AASTRA) phones have the logout feature.
  2. To untie the phone to from the unwanted extension:
    1. On the back of the phone, locate the MAC address and write it down.
    2. Go to http://manage.voxter.com and login as the admin user. 
    3. Locate the Device of the old extension under Hosted PBX, Advanced, Devices.
    4. In the "Device MAC Address" field, strip the matching mac address (delete).
    5. In the "Model" fields, change to a different brand.
    6. Click Save.
  3. To tie the phone to the new wanted extension:
    1. Go to http://manage.voxter.com and login as the admin user. 
    2. Locate the Device of the new extension under Hosted PBX, Advanced, Devices.
    3. In the "Device MAC Address" field, input the mac address.
    4. In the "Model" fields, change to the brand and model matching the phone.
    5. Click Save.
  4. Power cycle the phone for the change to take effect.
